What is the best way to manage my contacts?

by sandybar on September 4, 2010

Q: I need a database asap. I have client contact details on scraps of paper everywhere. I need to be able to send out emails to groups of them and on Monday I have a huge radio campaign starting and logistically managing my contacts has become a joke and trying to remember their status eg client, potential etc. So I have got ms access 2007 but I spent all week on lynda.com to learn how to set it up and I am no further. I just want a geek to come in and set up my database I know it would not take long once they know the system but where is the best place to find a geek that could do this for me?

Is it possible for a PDF file to increase in size when it is emailed?

by SR on September 3, 2010

Q: Using yahoo mail and windows 7 ultimate I sent an email with an attached pdf file to a friend . My PDF’s size was 370 KB.

My friend insists that the PDF he received was almost 10 times larger (being 3.51 MB)! He is on windows 7 Live Mail (Microsoft). I could not believe that and I told him that he obviously makes a mistake.

So, for evidence, we both provided each other with jpg captures showing the different sizes!

Then, for testing purposes I sent the same PDF to another email address (G Mail) and they confirmed that the size of the file received there was the same with that of my outgoing file (370KB),

I cannot understand how this can be done. If I am to believe the first recipient then we have to accept that an outgoing file might possibly be increased in size as much as ten times before reaching a recipient!

Is that at all possible?

What can I do about resetting my password on my Windows computer?

by steviemurphy50 on September 2, 2010

Q: Hi this is my predicament, my laptop was set to remember my username and password-sign me in automatically no problems………until now 3 years on i had a virus attack which i eventually dealt with!!!! Thing is for some reason it has chosen to forget my password trouble is so do i its been that long……..tried the resetting of the P.W but to no avail it sends the reset link to an old disused e-mail address when opting to reset it only offers me the option of sending a reset link to an alternative pre stated address and the bit I don’t understand offers to send one to the account i am locked out of…..do u think a system restore might work or is there somewhere i can locate it in my system or should I just admit defeat.

How come my files always get corrupted and what can I do to stop it?

by Trixie on September 2, 2010

Q: Since I began using computers. I have always had trouble with diskettes (sm floppy), new or old. Now I have trouble with flash/thumb drives. I corrupt files which can not be opened. It doesn’t matter if it is a new computer or old, at home or at work. I seem to be the only one who has this problem. I am very careful with where I keep these things and with safely removing, I know other people who do not take care of their storage units. I am asking people “what could I be doing wrong to create this problem”. Someone posed the question to me “could I be physically putting out electrical or magnetic impulses”… Is this possible?
