Maximum temperature of an AMD Phenom 9150e

by matt on October 10, 2009

Q: What temp should my AMD Phenom 9150e CPU be running at?

A: AMD Phenom processors usually have a max temperature between 60 and 70 degrees Celsius. This means you want to stay below that to make sure the system does not throttle the processing power of your CPU to keep the temperature down.

What processor is compatible with my Asus IPIBL-LB motherboard?

by Guest Geek on August 10, 2009

Q: Hello my fellow geeks! I have hopefully a very simple question for you guys.

I have an average desktop but I want to transform it into a number crunching light rendering beast before I start university. I have bought and installed new RAM, graphics, and sound cards but I still need a new processor.

My question is will this processor work with my motherboard?

Motherboard Name Asus IPIBL-LB (Benicia)

Intel BX80580Q8300 Q8300 Core 2 Quad Processor

If it is not compatible then can someone please suggest a new processor around the same price and power that is compatible?

How can I speed up my Toshiba laptop?

by Guest Geek on August 9, 2009

Q: I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 and I would like to play online games on it but I can’t because it slows down or freezes up. I was wondering how I can make the graphics better. I’ve had it for a few years and I still don’t have the faintest idea about any of the technical stuff (I don’t have the slightest clue what an operating system like this Windows stuff is), so an answer will have to be very easy to understand because I am computer illiterate. I haven’t done anything different to it so it has all the original stuff in it. I wouldn’t know how. I don’t know what the graphics card thing or anything is, but I’m sure a web site could tell if you need to know. Thanks for answering and putting up with my computer dumbness.

How come my CPU usage is at 100% when I am doing nothing on my computer?

by Guest Geek on August 6, 2009

Q: I have a Acer Aspire 6920G Laptop. The problem is that when nothing is running my CPU Usage is 100%. When I unplug my charger and plug it back in it resets the CPU Usage for a while (100%-35%). I run around 38-50 processes. My Task manager says that none of them take more then 0-3 % of the I have no virus’s on my computer so says “AVG” as I run scans everyday.

Should I Get An AMD Quad Core CPU?

by Mark on February 7, 2008

Q: I am about to rebuild my computer, which was a 3GHz socket A AMD Athlon with 2 gig of DDR RAM. The motherboard has developed a heat fault on the chipset and it is not fixable. I am looking at getting a new motherboard, processor, and RAM along with a new case with a 450w power supply. I have been looking at the AMD processors and seen that you can get a bundled deal on AMD PHENOM QUAD CORE 9500 4 x 2.3GHZ SKT AM2+ for about the same cost as an AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6400+ DUAL CORE 64 BIT SKT AM2. These both include motherboards as well. Which would be best option. The machine will only be used for small end gaming, online and video editing with pinnacle.I currently have windows vista premium home 32bit.

A: At the sub $200 price point, I’d suggest going with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 which should outperform both of those chips. Here is a good review of the AMD Quad chips vs their competitors from Tom’s Hardware. The E6750 outperforms both of those AMD chips for nearly all the benchmarks.

Otherwise, if you’re set on AMD you’ll be happy with either of those chips. Some software programs will take better advantage of the dual core setup, while others will handle the quad-core better and even then it’s going to be splitting hairs.
