Should I run Photoshop CS5 via Windows on my MacBook Pro?

by on November 15, 2010

Q: I have Photoshop Creative Suite 4 (for Windows) and would like to upgrade to Photoshop CS5 and install it on a brand new MacBook Pro. I am concerned about running this windows software on the Mac even though it is supposedly possible. I need something that will run trouble free and fast for my photography applications. Would I be better off spending the extra bucks to get a complete ($$$$) new Version of CS5 (for Mac)?

Is it possible to link a Kodak digital camera to a MacBook Pro?

by on November 14, 2010

Q: I am a storm chaser for the national weather service and I have a serious deli-ma. I have a MacBook Pro and would like to hook up my PowerShot A720 IS or my slightly older Kodak digital camera in order to have a virtually endless memory. I would like to save it straight to my mac while recording. Is there a way I can do this?

Is it safe to shut my MacBook Pro off after dropping it off the bed?

by on April 8, 2009

Q: I knocked my laptop off my bed by accident and it fell on a hard wood floor form about 2 to 3 feet off the ground. It’s a MacBook Pro. It seems to be working fine, but I haven’t shut it off yet. Do you think it’s safe for me to shut it off? Will it work when I try to start it up again? There doesn’t seem to be any damage on the outside. The case is fine, the screen is fine and it’s not making any noises that are out of the ordinary. I just wanna make sure.

Is it possible to purchase a MacBook Pro for $1000?

by on November 3, 2008

Q: I want to buy a serious computer for the first time but it is VERY confusing! I am set on getting a MacBook Pro and have about $1000 to spend, so I am searching eBay and Craigslist. I am a professional photographer trying to get the minimum of what I need since I don’t have much money. Much appreciated for your time and response! Thanks!

A: I totally understand how daunting it can be purchase a computer, and I will do my best to make the process a more straightforward one for you. Allow me to warn you in advance that a $1000 MacBook Pro will almost certainly be damaged and/or too old to be a good machine for a professional photographer like you. Read the rest of this entry »
