What can I do to get on my computer if I forgot my BIOS password?

by Guest Geek on September 7, 2009

Q: I have a Dell Dimension 4700. When I start it up it’s asking for a password and I don’t remember putting one on it. Is there anyway around this?

It tells me my password hint is my names but I have tried every combination but no joy.

Is there a way to clean up passwords stored in FireFox more efficiantly?

by Guest Geek on September 1, 2009

Q: I often use FireFox, a great browser, and sometimes go to Tools -> Options -> Security -> saved password to read and erase the passwords for the sites that I visit. Do you know if there is a way to shorten this path, maybe insert something in the toolbar to speed up this task?

Can I get into Windows XP after changing the administrator password to something I don’t know?

by Guest Geek on August 24, 2009

Q: I’m trying to fix a friends computer and I was attempting to turn on the automatic log on function in Windows XP. At run I entered “control userpasswords2″, cleared the “users must enter a username and password to use this” however I left the password blank for Account Administrator. I clicked apply, OK etc.

When I tried to restart the Welcome Screen comes up and a box to enter a password. I get a message that says “unable to log on because of an account restriction”. When I hard reboot, I cannot access the setup menu, I cannot boot into safe mode or anything else. It just goes to the log in screen.

I’ve managed to lock myself out completely. Is there any backdoor methods to get round this? Can I take the hard drive out and set it up as a slave drive in my computer and change anything to get access? I have tried starting it with my Windows  XP c.d in but it just boots up normally. Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

Fix Yahoo Messenger sign-in error

by Pamela on July 21, 2009

Q: Why can’t I sign in to Yahoo Messenger? It always says that my password is incorrect but then it’s correct. How can I solve this problem?

A: If you are certain your password is correct and you do not have the caps lock on then you should try the following:

1. Uninstall Yahoo Messenger.
2. If you are running a computer with Windows then you should run ccleaner.
3. If you are running a computer with Mac OS X then you should run all these tools for your version of OS X.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Download the newest Yahoo Messenger.
6. Install Yahoo Messenger, and restart your computer.

If you still cannot sign into Yahoo Messenger then you will want to follow the forgot password instructions to reset your Yahoo username and/or password.

Lost XP Password

by Angela on March 14, 2008

Q: I need to know how to bypass the Windows XP log on screen. The screen has username and password and it currently prompts me to change my password because the old one has been expired and I can’t get pass this screen because I forgot the old password. I can’t even get to the start button without entering my password. I used to be able to press cancel and go straight to the desktop but for some reason that wont work anymore. Please help what can I do?

A: At this point since you do not know the password to login to Windows XP you will have to rely on the Password Reset Disk if you have created one. If you did not create one then unfortunately you will have to reinstall Windows XP because the odds of cracking the password for Windows XP is very small.
