A: The UPC code on the coupons doesn’t actually have any data stored inside of it. A UPC or barcode is just a pictorial representation of a number that can easily be read by a scanner. The computer then turns the UPC or barcode into a number that it can use to look up information. The number itself is much like a social security number in that it is a unique number.
