How come I cannot change the control panel option that would make my laptop shutdown when I close it?

Q: When I close my laptop cover it does not turn off. I am not able to change the options in the control panel. The drop down menu in the power option properties disappeared! Can I recover the feature?

How come my HP Pavilion notebook running Windows Vista wont shutdown properly?

Q: My HP Pavilion dv5 Notebook running Windows Vista won’t shutdown properly. When I click the shutdown button it reboots. I don’t know what to do. It says that “bluescreen” is the one causing it.
