Will by passing the charging circuit on my viewsonic tablet cause problems?

by on March 14, 2012

Q: I have a viewsonic g tablet that runs on 12 volts. Recently the power connector that is on the printed circuit board stopped making good contact and I have to play with the Jack until I can find a spot where it will charge. I live in Canada and to get it repaired by viewsonic I have to ship it to California and it will probably take a month before I get it back. Here in my town nobody wants to work on it. What I am thinking is to open it and solder a cable with a new connector directly to the battery and bring it out through a hole in the casing. The problem with that is that I don’t know if by doing that I may be bypassing circuitry essential to the operation. Can you give me some advice?

How come I cannot install most Android apps on my Cruz Tablet T301?

by on February 2, 2012

Q: I have purchased a Cruz Tablet T301. Kernel version 2.6.29-ge904b9c-git #5

I was led to believe that you could download many Android Games, but most won’t install.

Is this likely that the Android OS is too old for most of the current games -
Do you have any suggestions

What is a good touchscreen pad/tablet for displaying lyrics in Word and PDF formats?

by on November 25, 2011

Q: What is a good touchscreen pad/tablet for displaying lyrics in Word and PDF formats?
I am a musician and have been using a Freehand Music Pad Pro. When I saw that Kindle Fire, I thought that I could replace the MPP The Kindle fire is the perfect size (and especially price), can be mounted on a mic stand and on paper looked to be ideal. After reading a couple of hundred reviews, I am hesitant to take the plunge. I need to quickly find and display a file and the Kindle, according to many reviews, has no file management the touch screen is slow and glitchy and the text resolution is not good. I’m not really interested in an i-pad and all those wonderful features. I just want a device to use for storing, quickly choosing and displaying lyrics, and occasionally a musical score, in Word and PDF formats in a reasonable price range. If the device has additional features that’s okay, but not necessary. Thank for your consideration.
