Netflix ready cell phones

by matt on September 4, 2009

Q: How would I know if a cell phone supports Netflix? What should I be looking for in the description of the phone?

A: There are no cell phones that currently support Netflix’s watch now feature. It should be noted that there are lots of rumors out there that there will be an app released soon for the iPhone that will let you download a video onto the iPhone from Netflix but that it wont be the watch now feature. It is rumored to work the same way iTunes, where you would download the entire video and then be able to watch it.

You can find a full list of devices that support Netflix on the Netflix Ready Devices List and we suggest you check it often as it will change often. Currently the only way to watch videos on a pocket sized portable device, like a cell phone, would be to load them onto the device. The iPod Touch and iPhone can easily download videos rented or purchased from iTunes but most other devices don’t have that luxary yet. Down the road I am sure this will change but that is how it is for now. Read the rest of this entry »

How come I cannot get audio from video players on websites to play on my computer?

by Guest Geek on August 27, 2009

Q: I cannot get audio to work on video players on websites. Websites like YouTube or any that have some kind of video or movie preview, the sound simply will not play though the video plays fine. I have updated to the latest version of Flash and I use FireFox, but the same problem is happening when I try to use Explorer. I have checked cookie settings and all that and am near wits end with this. Any help?

Q: I have a Canon ZR200. When I load my video footage onto the computer using a firewire cable, the video will skip (this only happens in full screen). If I play the video through Windows Movie Maker and view it in the small screen, it plays normal. Is there a way to make the video play in full screen without having it skip?

What is the best external hard drive with video out?

by Guest Geek on March 3, 2009

Q: I’m going to buy a media mate 1 terabyte external hard drive with video out. One is $200 and it has direct YbPr outs and the other is about $150 and it has just 1 YbPr hole (looks like a headphone jack) and the cable goes from that 1 jack and splits into the green red and blue wires. How bad is the degradation of video going to be if I get the cable that just has 1 jack that splits into the 4 other wires?
