How come an Atheros AR5007 card will not work with a Netgear wireless-N router?

by kasumiii on August 30, 2010

Q: I have recently purchased a new Netgear Dual band wireless-N router. One of the laptops that has a Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g card in it refuses to work with the new router, while every other computer in the house works fine. The computer is running on Windows Vista.

How come my Internet stops working an my computer says my TCP/IP is not configured correctly?

by InTeRnEt on August 19, 2010

Q: I am connected to the internet on my laptop by the wireless router. The last couple of days it stops like when you have to restart the router but it doesn’t always help. I search for errors with the search tool on my windows 7 and get this message: SBLSP over [MSAFD Tcp/ip [TCP/Ipv6]] is not configured correctly on this computer. What do I do?

Why would my wireless connecton be slower after connecting another computer via ethernet?

by jginsberg on August 13, 2010

Q: At home I’m on a wireless network. I have two computers hooked wirelessly and one hard wired to the modem. Before the one computer was hard wired the other two worked perfectly fine. After the hard wired one was attached, the other two are dogs now. It is possible that the one computer that is hard wired is taking priority over wireless ones and eating up all the bandwidth?

Are there any wireless routers that have a phone built in?

by yarbalicious on July 20, 2010

Q: I have just moved into my new house so I want to set my laptop, PC, PS3, and xbox 360 wirelessly to the Internet so I can game online. Is there any wireless router that can handle that, that also has a phone attached (like BoB from iinet but better).

Should I get a Linksys router or Cisco Valet Plus?

by jrr on June 23, 2010

Q: I am about to replace my 6.5 year old desktop, which is connected to my 6.5 year old 802.11b wireless router via Ethernet and uses WEP. I figure I should replace the router too so I can move to WAP. 6.5 years ago it was a nightmare to set up the router. Now I have the desktop, laptop, and printer working smoothly with wireless. I’m terrified of starting all over again. I’m looking at the new Cisco Valet Plus which claims to make all of this easy. Should I go with the Valet or stick to a Linksys router?

Both would be wireless-N. Also what should I do first, install the new router or install the new desktop? The desktop is running Windows XP, the laptop is MAC OS 10.x. Also HP offers the option of a wireless LAN card in the desktop. Any thoughts about that?

Is it possible to connect two wireless routers to one cable modem?

by leomck on June 8, 2010

Q: Recently I bought an E3000 Linksys wireless router. I already own a Belkin N1 wireless router. How do I connect both to one cable modem? I want to have a network for the back yard porch area in the summer and might as well put my old wireless router to use.

How can I block my wireless signal from my router when I am not using it?

by raymeiers on June 3, 2010

Q: I have a wireless router in my home office. The router is useful for connecting to an XBOX 360 in another room. Also, I will occasionally use my laptop in another room. Thus, for the vast majority of time I can plug a wire between the router and my computer and not use the wireless.

I have come to believe that wireless signals are damaging. I acknowledge that this belief is a theory (not scientifically proven). But, on the other hand, there is no medical evidence confirming that wireless signals are harmless. Also, I know that I am bombarded by wireless signals outside and even in my home from external sources. However, my router sits at a corner of my desk. If possible, I would like to make/acquire a removable shield to substantially enclose the router during my workday. Do you have any thoughts, comments, or advise?

How come I cannot get on the Internet when I connect to my Belkin wireless router?

by andyhlucas on May 19, 2010

Q: I am trying to connect my Toshiba Satellite A75-S2112 laptop to the shared Belkin wireless router we have at home. I was getting Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network. I followed instructions in your Belkin Troubleshooting section. I now am “connected” to the Belkin-54g Network. But when I open the internet browser I get the following message:
“Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems ”

I was told to turn off all Windows XP firewalls . So, I did. But I still cannot go to the internet and I am still getting :
“Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems ”

I can however go wirelessly to the internet by connecting to the Free City WiFi connection. But the signal is weak in my area and keeps on disconnecting.
