Which Anti-Virus Software Should I Use

by on August 3, 2006

Q: What antivirus software do you recommend? Also should I be using more than one to protect myself?

A: This is a tricky question, my friend. With the market flooded with new anti-virus software products daily, each with their own new features, it is hard to compare and designate one as the best. Various attempts to rate these have come up with different results.

The easiest thing would be to use established brands like McAfee or Norton. These two have always managed to stick around in the top 5 of all ratings and can be relied up to deliver.

Personally, it’s McAfee for me as I have seen my system slow down with Norton. Both McAfee and Norton cover threats from most known viruses and also include protection from spyware. Unless, you are having nightmares about virus attacks, I would not recommend installing more than one anti-virus software. The bottom line is that all such software eats up a lot of space/virtual memory and as a result, you end up with a slow machine.
