Removing Old Microsoft Office Installation

by on August 17, 2007

Q: I have a laptop and it has both Office 2000 and Office 2003 professional loaded on it. Can I just go to the control panel and remove the Office 2000, or is it more complicated than that?

A: Before making any changes to your system, make sure that you have the installation CD for the version of Office you would like to run. If it is an upgrade, make sure that you also have the original version of Office that you would apply the upgrade to. You can then remove the older version of Microsoft Office from your system by going to the control panel and removing Office 2000 like you had suggested. Once you have removed the application, make sure that the Office 2003 components are all working correctly. If not you may have to Repair the installation using the Office 2003 CD.
