How come when I try to disconnect my USB flash drive I get an error saying “Cannot stop device right now”?

Q: Every time I try to stop my USB flash drive my computer says “Cannot stop device right now.” Any idea why I am getting that error? I took a look at all my processes and nothing is running.

  1.

If using Windows, try double left-clicking on the green arrow in your computer’s taskbar. This will give you access to additional options, one of which might allow you to stop/eject your USB flash drive.

Of course, your USB flash drive won’t eject if any of the files in the drive are open. If you are using Vista’s ReadyBoost feature, that could also cause your USB flash drive to not stop/eject.

PS: Which operating system are you using, and which version? Which brand and model USB flash drive are you using, and did you have to manually install drivers to get it to work in your computer?

I look forward to reading your reply!
