How come all the text on my desktop has turned to symbols?

by on May 19, 2009

Q: All of the text on my desktop has been replaced by symbols. I just shut my computer down, and upon re-starting it all of the text on my desktop and in my toolbars has now been replaced by symbols. Basically I am okay once on the Internet, but all Windows Vista related text is now displayed as symbols. Anyone know what this is?. I have tried to restore my system to a previous date, and am unable to make that happen as well. (have tried multiple dates at this point!) My display setting is still set at English!

I don’t know if this will work for you since your system fonts have been changed to symbols, but the there is a nice tutorial at http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/78281-advanced-appearance.html (you’ll need to scroll down a bit to see the tutorial) which shows how to change system fonts in Windows Vista.

    Does this help?
