Video card stopped responding and has successfully recovered

Q: I have an Acer Aspire 5315 laptop. Sometimes, when I am using Acer Arcade to watch a DVD, the screen will go black. A popup error message says that the “display driver igfx has stopped responding and has successfully recovered” All my updates are up to date. What can I do to fix this?

A: The first step with any video card problem is making sure you have the most updated video driver. You can find the latest driver on Acer’s download page. As of right this minute that is here but over time it will change so I would highly suggest you visit Acer’s site and search for your driver. You can then run the install/update with the driver that you download and then reboot. The majority of the time this will resolve your issue.
