What should I be looking for in a scanner for photos and documents?

Q: I want to buy my husband a scanner but I don’t know what to look for. He wouldn’t use it often – mostly for photos and personal documents. What do I need to know and where is the best place to get a decent scanner for a decent price?

    I’d suggest a nice base scanner like the Canon CanoScan LiDE 100

    It can accomplish everything you want (scan photos and documents), has lots of favorable reviews at amazon.com and newegg.com and it’s well priced ($56)
