Direct TV on Demand

Q: How does the Direct TV on demand service work?

A: Direct TV on demand services works over the Internet. This means that you need to have a high speed Internet connection that you can connect the Direct TV receiver to. This means you will have a better experience with the on demand service if you have a fast and reliable Internet connection.

You can connect your receiver to your local network using an Ethernet cable, and Ethernet to Power adapter, or an Ethernet to wireless adapter. Using an Ethernet cable is the lowest cost and easiest solution but not everyone will be close enough to their router to be able to use this option. If you have to go with a kit I would advise going with the Ethernet to wireless adapter vs the Ethernet to power adapter because the power adapter sends the signal over your electrical wires running in your house and it is not a frequently used technology.

The nice thing is that once you connect your receiver to your local network the setup for all 3 are the same. You simple press “MENU” on your Direct TV remote. Then select “Parental, FAV’s & Setup”. From here select “Network” and then “Connect Now”. Once you have successfully connected to the network you can select “Continue” and then “Done”. Once you do this your program guide has to get updated before you can access the on demand services and it can take up to 24 hours for all the menus to get fully populated.
