Where do attachments get saved when saving an attachment from an email?

by on October 21, 2009

Q: If I quick-save an e-mail attachment and then I delete the email, where will I find the attachment? I have looked in the temporary files and in program files for Outlook Express but I have had no luck in finding the e-mail or attachment. Any ideas?

Try doing a search in Windows (either Start > Search.. or Start> Find>Files or Folders..) for the file you’re looking for.
If you don’t know any of the file names, try e-mailing yourself an attachment, saving that from the e-mail get from yourself and then searching for that file name. All the files should be getting saved to the same location so once you find the one, everything else should be in the same folder.

To make things easier in the future, you can just drag and drop the attachments to your desktop or wherever else you want to keep them.
