Can I install a French dictionary into Outlook Express without losing my existing dictonaries?

by on November 7, 2009

Q: I’ve been reading up on different solutions to the French spellchecker in Outlook Express after loading Office 2007, such as downloading a dictionary from an outside source, or reloading OE 2003. Does anyone know how these solutions affect existing dictionaries? I do medical transcription and have a medical spellchecker loaded. I can’t lose that. Also, if I reload OE from Office 2003, will I have to start over to set up my identity and lose all the contacts and mail I have on there now?

I don’t think I can express this enough. Make sure to backup your computer before you do anything! That is the only way to guarantee you wont lose your data. You can export your contacts from Outlook Express and save them on a CD/DVD etc. There should also be ways to export or at least save a copy of your existing medical dictionary as well. Even when you do that I would still highly suggest you do a full backup.

There should be a few related answers above this comment that might help you get started on what to do about a French dictionary and I will spend some time looking too but I am not very familiar with Outlook Express dictionaries.
