How come my computer crashes when I connect it via HDMI to my TV?

by on December 2, 2009

Q: I have an HP Pavillion dv6000. When I try to connect it to my LG television with a HDMI cable it comes up with the blue screen of death. When I restart my computer with the cable still attached it returns to this screen. However once I unplug the HDMI cable it returns to normal. Do you know what the problem could be?

Yeah it says dumping physical memory to disk, i thought when that screen came up it meant your computer was dead but obviously not. Any ideas mate?

Probably an issue with the video driver.

Grab the latest driver from http://www.nvidia.com and let me know if that takes care of the problem.

I’m not sure which to download, i’m running on a 32 bit vista and whenever i try to load one of their drivers it says there are no drivers currently supporting my current operating system.

Do you have the name of your video card?

    Example: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200

I think it’s the GeForce Go 7xxx series in your model of laptop.

    Try this one: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_win7_179.48_beta.html
