How come my computer freezes when I play video games like Word of Warcraft?

by on December 4, 2009

Q: I am having problems with my computer freezing up. It happens only seems to happen when I am playing computer games (WoW & Aion).

I suspect it is something to do with the graphics card.

I used to get the blue screen until I updated the driver, now it just freezes and becomes totally unresponsive.

It doesn’t seem to be an overheating problem as the max temps seem to be within the specs. The card is an NVIDIA GeForce G210 which should be able to handle the applications.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me any tips on diagnosing the problems before I take it back to the shop.

Even thought it sounds like you already did this, make sure you’re running the latest drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Try running your PC with the access panel removed, making sure all the fans are running. If you have one handy, have a box fan blowing into the case for total overkill air flow. If you’re doing all this and still having trouble then I’d get in touch with your shop about swapping out the video card to see if that helps.

one more thing is maybe related with video card memory, to fix that, you can’t do it by yourself, so go to some pc accessory repair shop.
