How come upgrading from Mac OS 10.2 to 10.3 caused my computer to not start?

by on December 8, 2009

Q: I recently I installed Mac OX 10.1 on my iMac running running 9.2. Everything worked fine so I installed Mac OS 10.2 and that worked fine as well. Then I installed Mac OS 10.3 and everything stopped. When i tried booting up it just kept loading and loading.

I tried to erase the hard drive by starting up from the CD but it froze. How do you erase the hard drive without the CD?
