Resolve imagescanned error

by on December 14, 2009

Q: I am trying to restore an image I created of my hard drive from an external hard drive. When I try to do this I get an imagescanned error. What do I have to do to get the imagescanned error to go away?

A: Apple wants to make sure that you are restoring using a valid disk image. To do this they have a process called “Scan Image for Restore…” that will verify that a disk image is good and can be used for a restore. Once you run this you will be able to restore without getting an imagescanned error.

To run this you need to open up your “Disk Utility” by going to “Finder” => “Applications” => “Utilities” => “Disk Utility”. Once you have the Disk Utility open you will want to select the disk image on the left hand side. Once the disk image you are trying to restore from is selected you will want to then go to “Images” => “Scan Image for Restore…”.

Once the scan is done you should be able to restore without getting the imagescanned error.
