What is the best way to connect two LANs using a wireless link?

by on December 22, 2009

Q: I need to know how to best set up a wireless link between two LANs. My side is a WRT54GS v7 running DD-WRT, with both wired and wireless clients. My wireless bridge is a WRT54G v5 also running DD-WRT, and mounted on a 30ft tower with a parabolic, linking to my brother’s house about 300 yards away. He has a WET54, with only one computer on it. Currently, both of mine are in AP mode, and it is functional, but I think there might be a better way.

Well you can either set it up the way you have it (both on the same subnet) or you can link the two networks and have them on separate subnets. I think having them on the same subnet makes a lot more sense because then it is easier to share files and data between the computers.
