Can I change or retrieve my Windows password while in Windows without knowing the password?

Q: I have forgotten my windows logon password. I am afraid to cut my computer off for fear I won’t be able to get back into it. Please help me retrieve my password or by pass it, either one. I need a baby steps tutorial since I am not too computer savvy as you can see.

    as long as you are logged in with an administrator account and you are not on a domain you should be able to change any of the passwords. You can do so by going to Control panel > User accounts > Select the account that your using and click “change password”.
