Is there a way to install Linux on my Windows XP computer without destorying Windows XP?

by on January 17, 2010

Q: I have a laptop running Windows XP Pro. The laptop has a single large hard drive (the drive is one single large partition). I am interested in learning, and eventually migrating to, some flavor of Linux. Is partitioning software available that would allow me to shrink the size of this single, large partition and create another partition so that I can dual boot between my Windows XP and Linux without destroying my current XP installation ?

The easiest thing for you to do is to install Virtual Box. http://www.virtualbox.org/ you can run a virtual instance of Linux from within windows skipping a lot of the complicated stuff you’re considering.
