How come my CD-ROM keeps telling me to “Insert CD” when I put a blank CD in it?
by OneRascal on January 19, 2010Q: I have a Dell computer running Windows XP SP2. My CD-ROM plays a used CD both music and video but when I put a blank CD in it keeps saying “Insert CD”. It downloaded a few weeks ago, but now it won’t download. The computer has a Samsung SC-148C CD-ROM.
From what I can find the your CD-ROM is just that, a CD-ROM and not a CD burner. This means all you can do is read CDs with it and not write them.
Were you under the impression that it could burn CDs? Everything I read about it on the Samsung website says that it just reads.

Thanks and yes, I do feel a little foolish. I finally understood the two are not the same.
Tried downloading some “CD Burn” programs but none are “compatible”………………….so………….thanks again tho……
