How come when I press a key on my keyboard I don’t get that letter on my screen?

by on February 1, 2010

Q: I have a Compaq Presario Laptop computer with Microsoft windows XP. I also have a Logitech mouse and keyboard. If I remove the keyboard and mouse from the laptop and just use the laptop keyboard, some of the keys come out weird e.g the letter J types in as……. . Can you suggest what I am doing wrong to fix this problem.

  1.

I think that is something you will need someone to physically look at. Chances are you can just get the keyboard on the laptop changed and it will solve your problem. Depending on how the laptop is made the keyboard might be something you can easily change yourself for $20.00.

I would suggest looking at your manual and seeing if they discuss removing the keyboard. It might not show up under its own category but it might show up under something like Upgrading RAM or Upgrading Memory.

If you see that then follow the directions to remove the keyboard. It might even be a lose wire and you removing it and putting it back on might just solve your problem. If not chances are a new keyboard for it will.
