Can I run QuickBooks with an AMD processor even though it says it needs an Intel processor?

by on February 3, 2010

Q: I have an HP Pavilion with a 64-bit AMD Athlon processor. I want to use QuickBooks which requires at least a 2.0GHz Pentium 4. Do I have to get a new computer or should I just replace the processor?

What is the model number of your processor. If is an AMD Athlon 2000xp or something similar to that then you will be able to run QuickBooks without a problem.

First thing first, AMD and Intel processors can all run the same software. There isn’t anything that only works exclusively on either CPU.

Second, the 2.0GHz Pentium 4 came out back in 2002. If you’re purchased this HP oin the past 5 years you’re not going to have a problem.

Hi Guys, not sure how my question got changed. I went to Best Buy and talked with a guy there, who of course said I need a new computer.
