How come my computer freezes when I try to reinstall Windows XP?
by thunderboymmt on February 6, 2010Q: My computer is not starting up. it shows Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
and when I tried to format the computer it shows “searching for previous version of windows and freezes”. How can I fix this?

Try putting DBAN on a CD and use it to wipe the drive first: http://www.dban.org/
