Q: I have an HP Pavilion a340n with 1.5G RAM and running XP Home. A Neighbor had an old hard drive with photos she wanted. I connected the drive to my system and the system read his drive as if my own. Now my computer shuts off every time I connect power to my regular hard drive. Why?

    1) Make sure your computer is turned off before plugging or unplugging any components.

    2) Generally this would be caused by some kind of a loose connection somewhere inside the PC. Make sure to double-check everything inside the computer you might have touched and make sure all plugs are connected firmly.

OK. I have connected an old hard drive and it rebooted with no problems. The problem has to be in the hard drive itself. Will be buying a 500GB HD. IMPORTANT****An FYI: If this happens to you it also renderes your partition useless also. So without recovery DVD/CD’s you are up the creek without a paddle.
