How come my DVD burner is making marks on my DVDs when I burn a disc?

by on April 18, 2010

Q: My CD/DVD drive is making some strange marks on my CD/DVD discs when writing. It look like line going from the center, a centimeter long, a millimeter thick. It is not a scratch rather as if it hasn’t been written on this small part. The discs work fine even pass verifying check, but still I burn a lot of discs, with important data. I wouldn’t want one day to wake up and see them all erased if you now what I mean . Has anyone the slightest idea what is going on? Should I continue to burn discs or replace my drive? It is only a year old.

  1.

Try a few different brands of disk to see if the problem continues. Also try burning and slower speeds.

If your burning data you consider important make sure your making multiple copies and storing them in different locations.

I did try other brands of discs and diffrent writing speeds.
It is always the same a line 1 cm long and mm thick from the center of the disc, not a scratch, only deffrent reflecting as if it hasn’t been written on (on the line a ment)
