How come my Compaq sr1410nx will not power on?

by on April 25, 2010

Q: My Compaq sr1410nx will not power on. I have done all the tests that Compaq gives to see if it is the power supply or the motherboard ect. I have concluded that it is not the power supply as the light stays on steady green in the back of the unit when I unhook all of the internal power clips and then plug in the supply cords suggested. What is really broken?

Which green light is it that is staying on? The one on the power supply or the one on the front of the case? When you hit the power button on your computer do the fans spin up at all? I have seen cases where the power supply appears to be good but was not. If the fans are not spinning up I would try to replace the power supply first as it would probably be the cheapest to replace. http://www.newegg.com usually has good prices and a good selection.

The light on the power supply stays on, The fans do not spin up . Nothing happens it does not power up anything. if I plug everything inside to its rightplace and then plug in the power cord the green light on the supply blinks . if i unplug the cord it still blinks for a while then stops. when i unplug eveything inside and then plug in the power cord the light stays on steady

It sounds to me like it is the power supply that is dead. I would try replacing this. A google search of the model returned a few results that you could get the direct replacement. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=compaq+sr1410nx+power+supply&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= You may be able to get it cheaper by getting the power supply wattage/case type and finding it on newegg.
