Can I replace a SCSI hard drive with a SATA hard drive?

Q: I have a Dell with a SCSI hard drive and need to replace it. Can I use an SATA hard drive?

    If the motherboard has any SATA plugs on it, then yes. They look like this: http://tiny.cc/sata_mobo In this photo you can see 4 SATA connectors on a motherboard. Two are black, and two are red.

    If there are no SATA plugs on the motherboard, you can also purchase a SATA Controller card like these: http://bit.ly/bOCsSc
