Is there some way to fix my video driver so it will stop giving me stopped responding error?

by on May 16, 2010

Q: I play World of Warcraft. Every so often the screen will freeze and then go black for a few seconds but then things would go back to normal. Display driver igfx stopped responding and has recovered is the error that I get.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? I’ve downloaded the updates associated with my graphics card from ‘Windows Update’ … but other than that, I’m at a loss for what I can do. I saw someone say that you can update BIOS to help. I’m not sure why… but I’m not one with all the knowledge about computers. I’ll let all of -you- decide what I can do to fix this.

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2450 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz
RAM: 1GB
System Type: 32-bit

I don’t know if you need more information. Let me know if you do.

  1.

There are a ton of people that are having similar problems: ( http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=igfx+stopped+responding )

The problem seems to stem from the video card driver for your video card (made by intel). From reviewing some of possible solutions, you might want to try some different video card driver versions from Intel ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ ) Just try the automatic driver finder at the bottom of the page. Beyond that I suggest checking out some of the ideas on the google search results.
