How can I split up one large wav file into multiple files?

by on May 23, 2010

Q: I am trying to convert my home-built music cassettes to CD on a Dell XPS running Vista Hone Premiun. I get the songs onto the PC, but it is stored as one big .WAV file. How can I separate the song into separate tracks for recording on CD? Apparently, when I recorded them onto cassette from my 45’s collection, I didn’t leave enough of a gap between songs for my software to do it automatically. Software I’ve tried is Wavepad, Audacity, and Roxio.

Audacity can split the tracks, you’ll just need to do it manually. See this guide: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks
