How do I restore my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop to factory settings?

by on July 4, 2010

Q: I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop with windows vista home premium 32bit os. I want to restore it to the factory settings. When I press F8 and enter the advanced boot menu there is no option “repair computer” to select. Just boot in safe mode, last known good config, and a slew of others. How do I restore this laptop to the factory settings I have all the installations CD’s. Windows vista, dell drivers etc.

What you will need to do is insert the restore CD/DVD into the drive and restart your computer. Your computer should automatically boot from the CD/DVD and then you should be prompted with the option to do a full restore back to factory settings.

If your computer does not start form the CD/DVD then it means your settings in your BIOS are not set to boot from your CD/DVD or the CD/DVD is not bootable. You will want to check your BIOS to make sure it tries to boot from the CD/DVD drive first and if that does not work then open the CD/DVD drive from in Windows and see if it gives you options from there.
