Is Microsoft Security Essentials and Anti Malwarebytes enough to protect my computer?
by mandyo1 on September 5, 2010Q: I am using the free versions of Microsoft Security Essentials and Anti Malewarebytes. Do I need to use anything else to protect my computer (Spybot etc)?
Also, which anti viruses are the best to have?

I’d suggest you leave Security Essentials always running, but only use Anti-Malewarebytes for on demand scanning. Leaving both programs running will probably have a negative impact on your pc performance.
Security Essentials is always my top recommendation since it has fully protection for everything you need and has a very good detection rate. That said you still need to be smart when you’re on-line. Your brain is the best piece of computer protection out there:
– Always keep your software up to date
– Think before you download something, if you aren’t sure about something, do some Google searches first to see what people say.
– Stay away from P2P file sharing systems
– Don’t download pirated software
– Use an e-mail system with built in anti-virus scanning and phishing detection like gmail.
