Do they make engineering programs like AutoCad and NX 3D for the Mac?

by on October 6, 2010

Q: Is there a version of AutoCad for Mac?

Also, is there a version of NX 3D aided design suite?

I am in a Engineering design course and need these programs but I cannot find one for my Mac. Any information will be appreciated.

It looks like autocad is not yet out for the MAC but should be soon. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=15421056

It doesn’t look like there is a MAC version of NX 3D aided design suite either but it does appear that there are a number of other 3D engineering applications out there. Try this link to find the one that suits you. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1400&bih=925&q=3d+Design+software+for+MAC&aq=f&aqi=g3g-m2&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CGkDb5G-sTNWFHJqmoATZt6GdAwAAAKoEBU_QBXHQ

Another option is to setup a virtual Windows instance on your mac and run the software from there.
There are a lot of software options for this:

I’d suggest talking with your engineering faculty and your schools IT department for info on discounted or free software to help you out.
