What kind of RAM does my Gateway MX6544 laptop use?

by on October 8, 2010

Q: I have a Gateway MX6455 Laptop. It has 2 dimm 512MB 333MHz cards in it. Need to upgrade, as sytem analysis reports that it can support 4GIGs of ram. How many pins are my slots, and what type ram card do I need to look for? DDR? SODIMM?

  1.

This laptop can only be expanded to 2Gigs. See:

There are only two slots, so you’d need to buy two 1Gig sticks, and replace the two 512 sticks already in your computer. You can expect to pay about $100 for this upgrade since the older DDR type ram isn’t manufactured much anymore as PCs have moved on to DDR2 and DDR3 RAM.
