How come I am unable to connect my Wii to my WiFi?

by on October 20, 2010

Q: My apartment building offers free wifi. I have attempted to log in with my Wii but i keep getting a message that it is unable to connect to the server. Could this be because the signal is too weak? Should I buy some type of booster? What can I do?

  1.

If the wifi is password protected make sure you have the password correct. Test wifi access on another device if possible.

If you can locate the wireless access points in the building (talk to who owns the building maybe) try getting the wii closer to see if it makes a difference.

You can also try adding an external antenna: http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=679395

Or try a wifi booster which might help (see related answered)

If the signal strength is showing good then the issue is probably with how the wireless is setup in the building. You’ll need to talk to whoever manages it.
