Will installing iLife 11 fix my DVD drive?

by on October 23, 2010

Q: My 21 inch iMac running 10.6.4 will not record DVDs. It also will not play any movies and cannot read the recovery disk. I am wondering if i upgrade to iLife 11 if it will fix things.

Maybe there is there a way to erase the hard drive and reinstall OS X from the internet since the DVD drive doesn’t seem to work or maybe install Windows 7 and buy an external cd/dvd writer?

This sounds like a hardware issues for your computer, you should really talk to Apple about the problem instead of best buy.

Here is contact information for Apple Support, I suggest you give them a call and tell them how the DVD drive isn’t working on your new computer.
