How do I know if my video cards will work together?

by on October 26, 2010

Q: I have an XFX HD-555X-ZNF2 Radeon HD 5550 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card and am wondering if it will work with K9A2GM MS-7501 Board with 2GB DDR2, PCIe, 32 bit System? If so is my 2GB DDR2 enough?

Since your motherboard has a PCI Express slot, and the video card has a PCI Express slot, they should work just fine together. A 400Watt power supply is suggested by the manufacturer, however unless you have a whole bunch of fans and hard drives something in the mid 300’s should be acceptable. If you’re really nervous try the PSU Calculator http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

As far as your CPU or RAM being enough, the video card will work fine, you’d only run into issues if the games you were playing had CPU or RAM requirements beyond what you were currently running.
