How do I fix a MSVCR80.DLL is missing error?

by on November 1, 2010

Q: I have installed a CD for school. After it installs and it tries to launch, I get an error message that states that the MSVCR80.DLL is missing. What can I do to fix this problem? Is there a free download you can recommend or is this a driver problem?

I tried to install the Microsoft.Net Framework. I also did a search on my computer for the microsoftoffice/office12/grooveUtil.dll as well as a search for the msvcr80.dll. Both of these applications are on my hard drive. However, it get an error as follows:

Executable “C\ProgramFile\Understanding Medical Coding – A Comprehensive Guile\StudyWare.exe’ has the following unrecoverable error: Couldn’t find MSVCR80.dll (required by C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office12\GroveUtil.DLL. Please ensure it is installed.

Could the CD be damaged, if the what I need for it to run is on my hard drive?

Uninstall Groove Monitor, it doesn’t do anything important and gets installed with Office 2007.

To remove GrooveMonitor from your machine you have to go to Control Panel and then select Add/Remove programs. GrooveMonitor is one of the displayed applications. Uninstall it from there.
