  1.

Can your laptop “see” your sister’s connection, but is unable to access it? Or is the laptop unable to find any wireless networks nearby at all?

Make sure to try this in the same room as the router.

I am in the room with the router and I am connected but the signal strength is low. I don’t know if my settings are incorrect or what the problem is.

To improve the signal strength here are some things to try:

    1. Move the router away from other electronics, especially wireless phones and similar devices as they can cause interference.

    2. Move the router to a more open location so the signal isn’t blocked

    3. Make sure the router’s antenna are plugged in

    4. Also can try changing the wireless channel on the router. You’ll need to consult the manual for the router for how to do this. Generally this only becomes an issue in densely populated areas.
