How come I cannot launch Windows Live programs after reformatting my laptop?
by hpfan98765 on November 28, 2010Q: had my laptop reformatted and ever since, no Windows Live programs will launch.
For instance, if I try and sign into Windows Live Messenger v14 for XP, the little Messenger icon will rotate for a few seconds before going back to stationary, with my username and password. Then if I try signing in again after that, it won’t even bother rotating; the window will blink, then it will go back to its original state.
Also, if I try to launch Windows Live Mail.exe, a little box will appear saying, ‘Sorry, something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail must close. Your most recent changes may not be saved’ …
I haven’t been able to sign in to WL Mail or WL Messenger ever since this laptop was reformatted. I use an Acer, and even HPs reformatted by the school ICT dept. have this issue.
I gave my laptop to them for repair for 2 days and they were unable to fix it. Windows Live Messenger is an exception in Windows Firewall. I have tried downloading the fix – I still have the problem.
Please help me!
I suggest downloading and installing the latest versions:

Also, run Windows Update and make sure that your version of XP is fully up to date.
