Nope, totally different thing. An SD card is normally used by a phone for data storage (music, photos, etc.)
SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module, the SIM Card acts like an ID Card for the phone. Your AT&T account is hooked into the sim card and acts as the phone’s identity on the network.
When you sign up for a phone account with AT&T they will provide a SIM Card with your new phone.
