How do I know if I will get Ice Cream Sandwich update for my HTC Evo 4G on the Sprint network?

If sprint is pushing out an update for your phone you will be notified on screen of an update available to download and install.
If you are still unsure you can go into your settings menu>about device. Ice Cream Sandwich will be displayed under Android version as 4.0.x (x=1-4)

You should be getting the update, see this official post from Sprint for more details, as well as instructions for how to manually update your phone:

A little clarity…I have the HTC Evo 4g, original. Not the HTC Evo Design 4g or the 3d. Currently running Android 2.3.5 gingerbread. Checked the update function in settings, and I got nothing. It seems they are NOT updating this particular phone. This may be the final straw for my services with Sprint!!!
