Should I upgrade from an NVIDIA graphics card to an AMD graphics card?

I’m interested on upgrading my video card from nvidia to amd. I have little knowledge on compatibility. I hope you can help me choose
Computer specs
Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI
Memory: 8GB
Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6700
Windows 7 ultimate 64Bit
Current Graphic Card: 320MB Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
What is the best performance graphic card for this type of set up? AMD
Radeon 7770 1Gb?

Best performance depends entirely on your budget, you might want to consider a Radeon 6870, it’s only about $30 more than a 7770, but gives a pretty good performance boost.
That said, there are a TON of cards on the market right now, and it’s really hard to keep track of the performance of all of them.
