How come my Windows Vista update drivers show up as different versions than I expect?

Q: My Windows Vista update drivers are installed as MSXML 4SP2; Q954430 and Q973688, not KB 954430 and KB973688. Why?

    It seems as though you are talking about regular windows updates. Where are you seeing these files on your computer? (Ex. C:\Windows\……)
