Can I use my computer monitor with a Nintendo 64?
by tobaccoblender on January 23, 2013Q: Hi There Geeks!
I would like to buy a used Nintendo 64 on ebay, but I don’t have a TV.
Is there any way I can use my computer monitor instead.
The N64 cable comes with 3 phono jacks to connect to the back of a TV but obviously my monitor only has the multi pin plug that goes to my computer.
What can I do?
By “mutli-pin-plug” I’m assuming you mean a VGA port like this one?

If so you’ll need to buy an RCA to VGA converter box. There are a lot of these on the market, and I don’t really have specific suggestion for you. Here are a bunch of options for
Take a look at the reviews for the different converter boxes (no a simple cable won’t work), and make your best choice from there!

Thanks for your reply- and sorry for this long delay in replying but I’ve been away.
I looked at those converter boxes on amazon but as far as I can see they seem to be for putting your computer output onto a TV screen.
But there’s no mention of them working for something like a Nintendo 64 onto a computer monitor.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks

Modern TVs basically just big computer monitors. A VGA port on a monitor is the same as a VGA port on a TV.
